Physical Description
The spider has a small, elongated cylindrical abdomen that is semi-translucent. The cephalothorax (head region) is roughly circular with a faint pattern. They are known for their incredibly thin, hair-like legs that give them a fragile appearance.
Size Estimate
The body length is typically 7–9 mm, but with its extremely long legs, the total leg span can reach up to 50–60 mm. The specimen in the image appears to be an adult.
Coloration & Markings
Pale tan, grayish, or light brown overall. The abdomen is often a uniform pale color, while the cephalothorax features a darker, blurred mark in the center that some say resembles a human skull, giving rise to one of its common names.
Web Type
Tangle web or cobweb. These are irregular, non-sticky silk structures built in corners, often appearing messy or neglected. When threatened, the spider vibrates rapidly in the web to blur its image.
